BRENT T. POOLER, B.S. - PRINCIPAL RISK ANALYST/SENIOR HYDROGEOLOGIST

Mr. Pooler received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1996, with a concentration in Environmental Geology and joined HET shortly thereafter.

Mr. Pooler has over twenty (20) years of experience in conducting hydrogeologic investigations and implementation of soil and groundwater restoration plans. Additionally, he has over eighteen (18) years of experience in conducting risk assessments in the states of Louisiana and Texas where he maintains accreditations as a Professional Geoscientist (LA #274, TX #6012). Mr. Pooler also offers litigation support through presentation of data and/or testimony, with courts qualifying him as an expert in the fields of geology, hydrogeology, remediation, implementation of regulations (LDNR Statewide Order 29-B, LDEQ RECAP), and risk assessment.

Mr. Pooler’s responsibilities include implementation and oversight of soil and groundwater assessments to determine the regulatory status, coordination of field activities, notification to the regulatory agencies of planned activities, compilation and evaluation of soil and groundwater sampling data, and preparation of Assessment Plans and Reports for submittal to the appropriate regulatory agency for approval. He effectively evaluates vertical and horizontal extent of contamination, determines potential sources based on the data generated and available historical information, and develops plans for well and boring placement locations. All field and laboratory data are compiled and evaluated by Mr. Pooler into a final report that characterizes the contaminant plume and determines the appropriate regulatory standard to be applied to the site. Dependent upon available data, appropriate recommendations are made by Mr. Pooler concerning the need for additional investigations, remediation, or closure.

Mr. Pooler has authored other technical reports, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Groundwater Monitoring Reports, and Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program (RECAP) Reports. He has developed extensive knowledge of the LDEQ Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program (RECAP) and is the Project Manager of RECAP Evaluations on various sites, including oilfield locations, UST and aboveground storage tank, and solid/hazardous waste facilities. As part of his risk assessment experience, Mr. Pooler has also conducted soil gas investigations to evaluate the potential for volatile emissions from soil and/or water to an enclosed structure. Mr. Pooler has authored numerous reports that contain risk assessment calculations and conclusions in the states of Louisiana and Texas in addition to evaluation of risk assessment programs in the states of Alabama and Mississippi. His expertise regarding the RECAP Regulations is provided to other Project Managers within the firm, whom he advises and assists regarding site specific risk assessment issues.
